Help me replace my lost camera
I recently attended BurlyCon, and I had a lot of
fun there. Unfortunately, I also lost my camera. The same camera that
I've taken so many pictures of burlesque performers from New York and
from all around. There are two scenarios, I figure, for how I lost my
camera: I did something really stupid, and left it in the cab when
I arrived at the hotel or it was stolen from my hotel room. I'm
not sure what happened, I thought I had it when I went into the hotel, but
when I actually looked for it on Sunday (Oct 25) it was gone. Of
course, it wasn't just the camera, it was the lenses, too. So what did
I lose exactly? Here's the list:
- Canon Digital Rebel 300D - replacement value $300. I bought mine used from a friend for $600.
- Canon 50mm f1.4 lens - replacement value ~$400
- Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 - replacement value ~$400
- ProMaster 7500EDF flash - replacement value ~$250
- Misceallaneous items, compact flash cards, camera remote, the camera bag - replacement value - >$100.
So I lost around $1500 worth of equipment. Of course, I wouldn't mind
getting a newer camera than the Canon 300D, it was kind of an old
camera. Oldie but a goodie. But still $1500 is quite a bit of money for
me to come up with, even when I do have a fairly decent paying job. I
did try to file a claim with my insurance company, but they don't cover
lost items. Since I'm not exactly sure what I did, I didn't bother
to file a police report or claim it was stolen. So perhaps I'm too
honest for my own good, I just didn't feel like making something up.
So what I ask, if you have appreciated my photography in any way, or
benefitted from it, or perhaps you're just sympathetic to my plight, you
might give me a donation to get a new camera. Any amount is fine: $10,
$20... $100? I can take PayPal, my account is
rodmur@piratehaven.org.
If you don't like paypal, but still wish to give me some money, we can
make other arrangements. Send me a note at rodmur@gmail.com
My Goal! My intention is to get a Canon
7D. Currently, as of Nov 25, 2009, I only have $260 towards my
goal, so I have quite a ways to go. Many thanks to those who donated.
If you're wondering what photos I've taken? Check out the ones below.
You can check out my accounts at flickr: Dizzy Swank and Dale Harris. For
just a quick sample you might want to look at the set For
photoshow at Sugarshack. You'll need a flickr account to view those
photos, also for my Dizzy Swank account, you'll have to turn off your SafeSearch.

Not a photo by me, but a photo of me by Norman Blake. Taking a picture of

Thanks for any support you can provide. - Dale Nov 5, 2009.
